
Installing OceanLED Underwater Lights on Yachts
We recently installed nine OceanLED underwater lights on a vessel in dry dock, following a precise and controlled process to ensure safety, reliability, and a high-quality finish. These high-performance blue lights operate at 24V DC and provide striking underwater illumination.
Installation Process
- Strategic layout: Assessment of the hull and selection of the optimum light positions below the waterline.
- Cabling and connections: Installation and protection of cabling to provide efficient and reliable power distribution.
- Hull machining: Accurate drilling, preparation, and sealing with 3M 5200 to prevent water ingress.
- Mounting and installation: Use of high-strength marine sealants for secure adhesion and long-term durability.
- Electrical testing: Verification of connections and correct operation before launching.
Post-Launch Inspection and Final Testing
Once the vessel was back in the water, we completed a detailed inspection to confirm that the system operated correctly, with no leaks and full reliability. The right materials, correct sealing process, and specialist marine electronics experience are essential for this type of installation.
